Did anyone read Metro newspaper this morning whilst stuffed like a sardine on the train? Well I did and giggled to myself when I read the article about the woman who has become a hit on YouTube after falling into a water fountain at a shopping mall in the US. Ok so first off it could come across as quite mean to giggle but she was texting on her phone and not looking where she was going. She only has herself to blame.
Check it out:
The video in question is a mall security video with audio of mall employees laughing at Marrero as she texts whilst walking, ending with her falling into a fountain. The video on YouTube has attracted over 2 ½ million views so far. Cathy Cruz Marrero, known as the fountain woman is now considering suing Berkshire Mall because of the upload onto the internet’s number one sharing site. The silly thing about all of this is no one knew who she was when the clip was posted online. Now she’s in the public eye and trying to sue over her own silly mistake.
“My issue is I don’t think security was professional because they didn’t send anyone to check on me until 20 minutes later and I had already left,” Marrero told Reading Eagle.
“We are troubled by the fact that anyone at the Berkshire Mall responsible for releasing this video would find humor in an employee injured on the premises,” her lawyer, James M. Polyak, added. “We intend to hold the appropriate persons responsible.”
If that had happened to me, I wouldn’t of come forward. The embarrassment of falling into a shopping mall’s fountain because you were too dozy to notice it whilst engrossed in whatever you were texting, makes you sound a little idiotic. We’ve all done it (well I have anyway) the text-and-walk move a lot of times but am not that clumsy to walk into a fountain, person maybe but fountain?! Wouldn’t you text and look or keep an eye out for the path ahead? It appears that Marrero is trying to get her 15 minutes of fame. Only at the same time she’s branded herself as an clumsy fool.
What do you think of Marrero’s reactions?
