Tesco, one of the UK’s fastest growing UK supermarket retailer has launched an official Facebook page created by Harvest Digital, the digital agency. The page went online a few weeks ago but was officially launched yesterday with a wider audience, confirmed Mike Teasdale, Planning Director of Harvest Digital. Facebook.com/TescoGB hosts content from all of Tesco’s online properties including the brand’s website and Tescorealfood.com. Improving customer service through social media is a focus for Tesco and it is inviting customers to speak directly to the brand via online discussions and customer relations tabs.
It also plans to include promotions on the site, some of which will be exclusive to Facebook users, though Harvest said there were currently no plans to make the site transactional. In the near future Tesco will expand its other Facebook pages which will cover clothing, greener living and beauty to see it come in line with other big brands with pages on the huge social network. So far 5,470 people have “liked” the Tesco page but will hopefully see a big rise in “likes” when the brand expands its presence across the site.
